Case Study Site 1 Report

School Demographics

The School Library focused on in this report is unique, based in a rural town on the mid-north coast of New South Wales. It is the learning hub for three independent facilities all based on one shared campus - a Senior College, TAFE and University. The library caters for approximately 500 co-educational yr 11 and 12 students, with an extra 1350 extra students from the TAFE and University. Of the High School Students, 5%  are indigenous and 7% have English as their second language. Approximately 200 students are male and 300 are female. There is one Teacher Librarian and one Library Technician (2 days a week) employed by the senior college for the High School Students. The library as a whole however, employs one Library Manager, 5 Librarians, and 3 1/2 Library Technicians. Although the Library Manager, Librarians and Technicians generally operate within their own fields, they are not bound to their independent roles, and comfortably operate between the three different entities when required.
